DUST 514 Open beta announced

The upcoming MMO First person shooter for the Playstation 3 exclusively titled Dust 514 open BETA starts January 22nd 2013. Recently, DUST 514 has merged with EVE online, allowing CCP games to start the open beta since one of the biggest problems was latency issues and server cost and maintance. DUST 514 also merged with EVE online for another reason, anything done on the DUST 514 universe will influence the EVE online universe. This is the first time ever a game developing company has managed to “merge” a PC MMO with a console MMO and them being two completely different games. Hilmar Veigar Pétursson, CEO of CCP said the following:

 

“The launch of the DUST 514 Open Beta is another step towards our long-term vision for CCP and EVE. But this is just the beginning. As we have done with EVE Online , in the coming weeks, and for years to come, we will continually improve upon and add to the DUST 514 experience , as well as add deeper integration between the two games and their communities.”

 

There has been no official release date announced for DUST 514, but it’s expected to be Q2-2013 since the merge with EVE will speed up the process massively. Here is some DUST 514 gameplay footage demonstrated at E3
