Microsoft has finally revealed their new game console called “Xbox One”. A game console isn’t much more then a plastic box if it cant power the most high end games out there right now, this is why Microsoft has gone all out with the hardware in the new Xbox One.

These specs are pretty amazing compared to Sony’s new Playstation 4. With the announcement of the Xbox One EA has also revealed their newest game engine, showing us why it is so important the Xbox One has the most “innovating” and “Powerful” hardware in the world, but thats not all, also the fact that the Xbox One uses a Cloud storage system and allows to capture video at the same time requires a lot of processor power

Microsoft has finally revealed their new console called Xbox One a console that provides a “new all in one experience” and with this also comes a newly designed Xbox controller which came after more then 200 prototypes.

However the Xbox controller won’t be something you will be using much, the new Xbox One is mainly based on voice recognition for most of the features. The Xbox one controller has over 40 new innovations from the old one such as integrated compartment and better battery, improved triggers and a more precise D-pad, here is what Carl Ledbetter Creative director at Microsoft said:

Here is a list of features we know so far:

• The expected battery live is approximately 20 hours.
• Each D-pad will have its own fibration motor (impulse triggers)
• Wifi directed radio stack
• Improved technology for more precision

The new Frostbite 3 game engine developed by DICE website just launched. The game engine got announced with the announcement of Battlefield 4, one of the primary games powered by the engine. The Frostbite 3 engine will have many improvements over its predecessor (the Frostbite 2 engine) and will have new Destruction 4.0 technology and tessellation technology.

The game engine has been in development since 2011 and will not only power Battlefield 4 but also the new Command and Conquer, Dragon Age 3 Inquisition, Mass Effect and possibly a new Medal of Honor.

You find yourself in a rowboat headed towards a lighthouse in the Atlantic Ocean off the coast of Maine. You have a cigar box that contains a picture of a pretty, nicely dressed young woman, and a pistol. A chattering couple sporting British accents argues about who’s rowing and who isn’t. Once the boat reaches its destination, you pause in your seat to take in the scene. Substitute the boat ride with a fiery plane crash and the scene becomes all too familiar for those who played the masterpiece which was BioShock and the parallels between the games don’t end here.

You play private detective Booker DeWitt, a haunted former cavalry officer who participated in the massacre of 150 Indians at Wounded Knee in 1890. Its 22 years later, and DeWitt has gotten himself in deep debt to an unknown creditor, who has offered him a chance to redeem himself. Go to the floating city of Columbia, find the girl in the picture in his cigar box and return her to New York City. After reaching the lighthouse, he’s treated to a Close Encounters of the Third Kind style exchange of colored lights and musical tones, after which he’s shot into the air, chair and all, coming to rest in a religious shrine on Columbia. From here he begins his search for the mysterious young woman, who becomes more closely entwined in his fate than he could ever imagine.

For a game as expansive as Bioshock Infinite, it’s good that the control scheme is very simple. Unlike the original BioShock, which forced you to switch from weapons to Plasmids, in Infinite you use weapons with the left mouse button and with the right. Switch weapons with the mouse wheel; switch Vigors with a single button press. Ammunition and cash are everywhere (at least on Normal difficulty), and vending machines are spread throughout the maps, so staying stocked is never a problem, provided you take the time to look around.

Bioshock Infinite is one of the prettiest games you’ll ever play. Hummingbirds hover in mid-air in beautiful gardens, filled with statues of The Founders (George Washington, Thomas Jefferson and Benjamin Franklin) and The Prophet, Zachary Hale Comstock, spiritual leader of the citizens of Columbia. The city itself is a collection of giant buildings, floating on the updraft generated by enormous fans, bobbing up and down. It took me almost two hours of gameplay to finally find the elusive Elizabeth because I spent so much time looking around and appreciating the look of the place. Once you find and rescue Elizabeth, the action part of the game kicks into high gear. Elizabeth is probably the best female video game character since Half Life 2‘s Alyx.

Elizabeth is resourceful, smart, and excellent in a fight since she requires no hand holding; she gets out of the way, can take care of herself, and even functions as a support character, finding you health and ammo when you need them the most. She also has the ability to open tears in time and bring objects through the tears to your reality. These can include cover structures, a floating high calibre machine gun and several varieties of sentry guns.

The ease in which you can combine your weapons and Vigors during fight sequences makes the combat in Infinite more fun than in most shooters. I usually find one or two weapons that I like and ignore the rest, but in this game I found myself trying out lots of different weapon and Vigor combinations tailored to the situation at hand. Also, there are little things that give Infinite a special touch, such as the excellent use of period music and, conversely, a barbershop quartet singing a Beach Boys song 50 years before it was actually written.Bioshock Infinite is one of the prettiest games you’ll ever play
One of my pet peeves with RPGs and shooters is the necessity of turning over every rock and twig to find powerups and collectibles, and it’s a major factor in this game. Especially worrisome is the idea that you can walk into someone’s home, steal all that they own and never be challenged for it (although there are certain points later in the story when stealing turns you into a target). Most of my initial play through was spent searching trash cans, purses and safes for important items.

Of the three brands of vending machines, the one for the Vigors is the least useful, because almost all of the items it sells are far too expensive. As for health, I wondered why the game doesn’t stop you from eating all the food you can find when your health bar is full. You can’t use a medicine bag with a full bar, so why should you be allowed to waste apples and popcorn and such when you might need them later on? Then there’s the tone of the Infinite remains one of the best games of 2013narrative, which gets very dark as you move along. Columbia’s residents gleefully practice all flavours of racism, and children can be seen smoking like chimneys. These might have been the norm in the early 20th century, but they’re very risky themes in the current climate. On a more practical note, Irrational has bowed to console pressure and has replaced the save-anywhere mechanic used in the original game with a checkpoint system that has far too few checkpoints. The game autosaves when you move to a new area, and you’re revived where you fall when you die (with a cash deduction), but if you quit you could find yourself having to replay large chunks of the game because of a lack of checkpoints. Combat is fairly easy until the final battle, which is ridiculously frustrating to win, even on Normal. And the battle leads immediately to a very long, interactive cut scene and a very trippy ending that deep thinkers will be debating for months.

Bioshock Infinite is an amazing gaming experience that should definitely be part of every player’s wish list. It looks fantastic, the pace is fast (once you find Elizabeth), and it has much in common with the equally outstanding BioShock, all the way down to the layout of the interface. But it also has a dash of ugliness, a bad save-game system and some other unfortunate problems (not to mention a nasty bug that can erase your progress if the game crashes so take my advice and disable Steam Cloud saving). But even with these issues, Infinite remains one of the best games of 2013 thus far, and will no doubt be a frontrunner for Game of the Year. Final Score 9.5/10

Ubisoft just revealed a new trailer for the upcoming Action adventure Assassins Creed 4 Black Flag, the sixth game in the Assassins Creed sequel. The game is set on tropical islands like Cuba, The Bahamas and Jamaica, once released on October 29, 2013 the game will be available on the Xbox 360, Playstation 4, PC, Playstation 3 and Xbox 720. However, the game will feature additional content and a additional 60 minutes of gameplay on the Playstation 4 and Playstation 3, if you don’t happen to own a Playstation and still want to play the additional 60 minutes of game play you can by purchasing the Assassins Creed Special edition

Nintendo has recently released a new firmware update for the WiiU, since the release of this update many users have been claiming their system is not only faster but also gets better framerates, the menu works smoother and games load faster.

The rumor claims that after several hackers have done some digging they found out that the latest firmware update overclocked the CPU and GPU of the WiiU. The CPU has gone from 1.24GHz to a incredible 3.24GHz and the GPU from 550MHz to 800MHz, this means that Nintendo has been selling under-clocked game consoles to then keep making them faster as time goes by to keep a smooth gaming experience and make the console’s life time last shorter to sell more consoles.

The WiiU has a IBM PowerPC 750 a 3 core processor which is a 32 bit processor that was mostly used on the Apple Powerbook G3 released back in 1997. The rumor claims that the CPU has been overclocked to up to 3.4GHz, this is a HUGE overclock specially because the IBM PowerPC processor has only been overclocked to 3,1GHz.

Do you play your console offline? Are you one of the many Forza, Fallout, Skyrim, GTA players that will never take their console online and instead indulge themselves in rich single-player experiences? Are you primarily an Xbox gamer? Well then fear not, as it would seem that the rumours about Microsoft’s always-on outlook for their next generation Xbox are not true, or at least not any more.

According to an internal Microsoft e-mail sent to all full-time employees working on the next Xbox:

The quotation also confirms another two rumors: the first being that the next Xbox will include a HDMI input, to allow television cable boxes to be hooked up for live TV viewing. The second rumuor being that it will indeed include a Blu-ray player.
It would seem Microsoft have listened to feedback and addressed the problem. The existence of such a mass e-mail to employees (who would already know this was the policy) implies that there has been a recent change in policy.
How far this offline support will extend still isn’t clear. It could very well be the case that you need an Internet connection the first time you setup new games, and have an offline mode for if you don’t want to or cannot connect to LIVE, much like Steam. Either way, it’s a step in the right direction as many gamers were worried about losing connection and as a result not being able to play a game, or do anything with the console until their broadband was restored. Playing video games on your browser? Mozilla has been working on developing games for their popular web browser Firefox and have finally released a demo of the game titled “Epic Citadel” (also available on iOS and Android) which is powered by the Unreal Engine 3 using the same tools that are currently being used for developing high end PC and next generation console games. The game is developed by Epic games and Mozilla.

The demo shows the possibilities of their browser and how good a 3D game can look in a browser, the game is programmed in HTML 5 and Javascript which means it doesn’t require any plugins or add-ons in order to be played.

Epic Citadel is not the only browser based 3D game which has amazing graphics, lately many indie-game developers have been working on their own browser games such as Offensive combat which is currently in open beta.

The puzzle games Portal and Portal 2 developed by Valve are coming to Linux ,Valve confirms. The game will be available on their own online platform Steam for $19,99USD. Since December 2012 Steam is also available on Linux, making a huge leap forward in Gaming on Linux, there are currently not many games on Linux compared to Mac OSX or Windows all though Valve managed to port their Zombie shooter Left 4 Dead 2, Counterstrike and now Portal.
