Kickstarter Spotlight War of the Overworld

 

This week in Kickstarter Spotlight the weekly post where we take a look to the exciting  new games that have recently been kickstarted or started out as a kickstarter proyect. This week we will take a look at War of the Overworld a combination of RTS and God game genres developer by Subterranean games. This game is the complete opposite of what we are used to, instead of being the Hero entering the dungeon and saving the world by killing minions and bosses, in this game we have to create the dungeons

 

to crush the bones of the goodly heroes that dare to enter your unhallowed halls. You will command mighty armies, create vicious traps and cast dastardly spells to overcome the pitifully gallant armies that defend foolish principles such as “honour” and “righteousness”

 

The game will be powered by the Unity Engine and the game will be available on all platforms (Windows, Mac OSX and Linux) if the game gets kickstarted on time, the official release date will be August 30th 2013.

War of the Overworld will include a multiplayer, campaign mode and sandbox:

 

In the Campaign: In the campaign you will face off against Emperor Stockington “His mighty generals have been called to a war council in the capital of Socksford in preparation for war” the campaign will include many hours of gameplay, soon more details will be released.

 

The multiplayer: In the multiplayer, a unlimited amount of players can play 1 match to make 1 Dungeon and fight the hordes of Heros together or of course fight each other  in free-for-all’s to prove who is the best!

 

Sanbox: In this game mode everything is possible and you’re only limited by your imagination, you can create labyrinths with different difficulties, build massive dungeons … you name it!

The game has a pledge goal of 150.000$ and has (a few days before the funding has completed) already made it’s goal. The game has also released its own Pre-Alpha Demo for all backers, the Demo will allow you to explore the main game mechanics like digging, reinforcing, and claiming. Here is some Demo gameplay:
