Sony confirms Playstation 4 price

Sony has officially confirmed that their upcoming Next Gen console the Playstation 4 which has already started manufacturing and will cost the following (depending on your currency)

• In Dollars the Playstation 4 will start at $399 Dollars
• In Euros the console will start at 399€ Euros
• In Japan the Playstation 4 will cost 349 Pounds

This is the price of the most “Standard” edition, we expect the highest GB in storage and extra features edition of the Playstation 4 to cost over 399$ (thats about 200$ cheaper then Sony’s rival the Xbox One)

This is significantly lower then the original Playstation 3 costed when it launched back in 2006 when the minimum was 499$ (in Europe 699€) the price reduction is rumoured to be due to the lower sales of the Playstation 3 compared to the Xbox 360. Sony has seen a drop in console sales and games of 10% over the last few months. There have been 70 million Playstations 3 sold world wide.
